Playing Games with Ultra-Aggressor
Villain in this hand is insanely aggressive, but still will only show down decent hands if he's forced to call the river. I've been playing pretty solid and have shown down many winners.
Villain is Button (40/30/6) over 100 or so hands Hero is BB with K8 [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] Empire 6-Max $1/2 Preflop: folds to Villain, Villain raises, SB folds, Hero calls Decent chance that I have a hand that's ahead here, but just as likely that he has A high, I'd like to see a flop. Flop (5SB): 3 [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] 5 [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] 7 [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] This is the type of flop that could not have hit him hard, so I try to blow him off his overcards right now. Hero checks, Villain bets, Hero raises, Villain calls Turn(4.5BB): 6 [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] Hey nice card for me! But I still think he hasn't connected at all so I bet again to try to take it down right here. Hero bets, Villain raises, Hero ??? Villain's raise still could mean that he's flexing his muscle, it doesn't mean that he's connected yet. With this in mind, what is your plan for the turn and river? |

Re: Playing Games with Ultra-Aggressor
Someone correct me if I'm wrong here, but I think you need to assume you'll have to hit a K, straight or flush to take this down since you don't think you're ahead at the moment.
You've got 15 outs which doesn't give you enough equity to bet since this is heads up and villain is on a huge range of hands that can be ahead. You do have enough outs to call so I do that and check/fold this river UI. |

Re: Playing Games with Ultra-Aggressor
I would say against an ultra agressive guy even if you catch an 8 you can check/call. I know that puts 4 to the straight on board but if he's this agressive he could easily be betting a smaller pair right?

[/ QUOTE ] wrong strategy. check call, check call, check call unimproved isn't too bad a line here. yesterday i raised preflop w/ KT against a limper and a dude like this guy coldcalled. well he called the raggy flop, and the other dude check called my bet. i decided i would check the turn, let the bluffer bet and see if the limper would fold. the limper folded (i would have folded if he called), i called. i check called the river and he had unimproved JT. don't fight with these types of hands against this player. |

[/ QUOTE ] Ummmm... yeah... because you really want to throw a bunch of chips in the pot against a very very aggressive player with king high. Don't you think that he knows this is the sort of flop that could not have hit *YOU* hard? |

Re: Playing Games with Ultra-Aggressor
Doesn't his aggro make it more likely than usual that he hit this flop?
I agree with the check/call down. I might fold a river UI. |

Normal aggression villlains have a higher pair to non-pair ratio than high aggression villains. High aggression villains are *FAR* more likely to have no pair on this flop than a pair. |

Re: Playing Games with Ultra-Aggressor
True, but I wanted to begin to represent at least a pair early on, so I could win the pot with a river bet if he didn't catch.
