Going to Chicago!
Any decent cardrooms out there. If so, games to play in? Games to avoid?
Thanks- -Jarid |

Re: Going to Chicago!
harrah's and trump's in east chicago, indiana (about 25 min. from the loop with no traffic) is your best bet... they are adjacent to each other... harrah's spreads hold'em 5/10 and up, 30/60 hose, 1-5 and 2-10 stud (hi only), occasionally 5/10 omaha (fk) and tuesday nights pot limit omaha hi (1000 min buy-in)
trump's spreads hold'em 3/6 and up, low limit no limit hold'em (200 or 300 max buy in with 2/5 blinds and 6 per hour seat fee), 1-5 stud, 2-10 stud/8 on wknds and 3/6 omaha (fk) on weekends, and ocasionally other games like 10/20 hose and 10/20 stud they both also have weekly tournaments mike |

harrah's and trump's in east chicago, indiana [/ QUOTE ] Let me add to that: (1) Trump is technically in Gary, in case you try to look it up in the phone book or something, (2) since Trump spreads the lower limit game, the lines were always longer when I've been there, and (3) you can call Harrah's poker room up to an hour ahead of time and they'll reserve you a spot on the list, to save you at least some waiting. |

Re: Going to Chicago!
Does anyone know of any cheap places to stay out there? I'm going out in October, and I'll be in Chicago during the week, but I plan to play poker all weekend and want to avoid having to go back and forth (because I've heard it's a pain in the ass if you don't have a car, which I don't). And since I have to pay for my weekend hotel room (as opposed to the one during the week, where I do not) I'm looking for some low-rent digs.
Thanks in advance -McGee |

I normally play at Harrah's (Mrs. Lossage complains that Trump smells of seaweed, and we do not argue with Mrs. Lossage about things like this), but I figured Trump would have to do the same thing in order to compete. I shall remember this for when my cheap, fish friends come to town. Being cheap, they will certainly want to go to Truump for the lower limit game, seaweed smell be damned. |

Re: Going to Chicago!
East Chicago Harrahs and Trump. Got it. Thanks for the tips guys. I will probably only be able to squeeze in one night of poker, but at least I know where now.
Anything interesting happens I'll post a brief trip report. Thanks- Jarid |

Re: Going to Chicago!
If you go to Trump (and there's no reason you shouldn't the 3/6 is very soft), bring along some of that anti-bacterial hand wash. You'll want to use it after touching the chips and the cards are just too hard to handle with gloves on.

Re: Going to Chicago!
Actually, only half of them seem to be - about half their chips are really old and the other half were replaced within the last year, so sometimes two stacks of 20 won't be the same height...
