Did the same thing a couple months ago in a 3.5 year relationship. Long distance, college, blah blah blah... you're doing the right thing, for both of you. It's not fair to her in the long run to stay in a relationship that just aint right for you.

It's hard to quantify exactly. I think it's mainly that we've sort of become different people since 4 years ago. We've been fighting a lot lately, and basically I came to the realization that I wasn't happy being in the relationship currently.

It wasn't about anyone else, if that's what you're wondering.

No the thought never crossed my mind that infidelity was on the cards, I just find it interesting because 4 years is a long time, narrowing down the problem(s) should be a task undertaken (either in private or public) to ensure you are not 'folding when you should be calling'.
