Default B&Ms in Florida (Gulf Coast)

It's very likely I'll be moving back to Florida in the near future (Sarasota area). I never played B&M while I was living there...so I have no idea what card rooms are available and what limits they spread. My guess is Tampa is my only real shot. Anyone?

Tampa Bay cardrooms
Tampa Bay Downs is closed for the season, The Mardi Gras Queen is in Limbo, The Ocean Jewel might be closing, and Derby Lane has lost it now that they are offering Double Flop Texas Hold 'Em tournaments.

There is also poker south of Sarasota at the Naples-Ft Myers dog track in Bonita Springs.

The Seminole Hard Rock Casino off I-4 in Tampa also has 1/2 Limit. The problem with poker in Florida is there is a $2 maximum bet limit. The tournaments, when available, are probably worthwhile though.

Hijack: Anyone know what $2 Action Hold'em is?

How exciting! 72os are now priced into every pot. Where do I sign up

I knew that was a reason I moved from Tampa to Philly (and it wasn't the weather).

So unless I'm going on a ship, I'm SOL. I wouldn't play in a $1/2 or a $2/2 game. Is that a state law that limits the betting? That's just absurd, it costs more to drive there than you could possibly win.

Agree Let. I play at Naples dog track a couple times a year when visiting family in Naples. The $2 action betting structure makes it very difficult to avoid suckouts. 3 bets preflop are the norm with usually 6-8 seeing the flop. At the very least two pr take down most pots, and its more often than not 10-4 or Q-5. Hard to make any money to speak of but it is poker if your desperate, the tourneys might be your best bet.

learn to play SnGs, their single table tourneys have an excessively high vig, but can be found at fairly high levels with really terrible players
