pineapple holdem strategy?
I want to play this tonite with my friends, but is it always benefitable to start with the 2 highest cards? Is there a "surprise-factor" when you keep two low cards and baords come rags and then you can get the other palyers to fall in your trap?

Re: pineapple holdem strategy?
I've only played a little pineapple but I was thinking about this too.
The conclusion I was working towards was that you generally want to play the cards that have the best chance of doing well in a multiway pot, since most people play too many hands in pineapple because it's relatively rare. Especially at low stakes, people will stick around because they're still feeling out the game. So if you have J[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] T[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] K[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] I might actually consider playing the suited connectors before holding onto the KJ, which is more likely to be dominated. At least with the JT, if you flop a good straight or flush possibility, you can play it, and if you don't, you can feel secure that you're saving money. Maybe that's a naive way to look at it. |

Re: pineapple holdem strategy?
Pineapple is a flip after the flop, so what you keep is highly dependant on the flop. Starting with 3 cards that all play well together is key. Even though it's closely related to HE, top pair will rarely win Pineapple. After the flop I'd rather have a good draw than top pair.
