Re: fear of police?
We have a home game every week about 30 people. The police came once but we didn't let them in. When the asked what was going on we told them we were playing cards and they had no problem with it. By the way they said they came because of noise but I am sure they just kept seeing all the cars every week and wanted to check it out.

Many state laws, such as in Michigan, state that that gambling is illegal "Except" in private residences when no one is making a profit from operating the game i.e. no admission charge, time charge, no rake.
