Default What would you do here?

Local tournament at my casino. Early, I have about 6,000 in chips in my big blind. Player to my right has been playing like an idiot all night. He's drunk, playing every hand, and several times he's gone all-in pre-flop, only to have everyone fold as he shows down 7-4o. Blinds are at 100-200, and it's my BB, a few limpers and guess what? Moron goes all-in again. I have A [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]K [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]. And by the way, he got stupid lucky early so he has a big stack and has me covered. What would you do here? After I get a few posts, I'll tell you what I did and explain why.

This is one of the easiest calls ever. I'm not quite sure why you're even asking. The only reason I can think of is because you lost.

Get over it, move on.

First of all, it's not an easy call. Knowing that he likely has 2 live cards, I'm getting no more than 65%. Now being a better player than most at my table, I am confident that I can give myself a better than 65% chance to double up by exploiting a bigger edge that I hold by playing solid poker over the next hour or so. I actually folded here. He proceeded to be an idiot until he pushed in the CO and I woke up to AA on the button.

I'll try to avoid going down this road, as it is far too well-travelled. But I cannot resist saying just two things:

1) 2:1 is not a small edge.
2) You won't like it the vast majority of times when, while you're getting blinded down waiting for a bigger hand (good job increasing that edge 20%, by the way; are you sure 4.5:1 is a big enough edge to outweigh your amazing poker skills with these super-deep 30 BB stacks?) someone else calls with AK, takes all the maniac's chips, and proceeds to run over the table with his now monstrous stack.

I think this is a bit strange. At the end of the day, you were guaranteed 2:1 on your money (maybe a tiny bit more if there were antes) and you folded when you had complete confidence he didn't have Aces or Kings? Which means worse case sceanario you had a coin toss, and best case he had A-Small with 3outs.

Your play is a losing money one. No matter how good you are, when everything is in your favour, you have to take those shots. Even if sometimes God favours the fool.

I say this having reraised a drunk idiot in a £550 no limit tournament with AKos..he called with Q2os and spiked a Queen. I'd do it again as well. Irrespective of my skills I can't be in better shape than this.

Don't pass up spots like this where you obviously have a big edge over his range. Its near impossible to get in against him with a bigger edge because odds are he busts out real soon to someone else. Folding here is absolutely horrible.
