Default Burning dvds

Alright I need a little help here. What program do you guys use to burn dvds. All I have is the shitty one that came with my computer. Furthermore, when I try to make a copy of some (well, most actually) of the dvds I own, I get this bullshit about some sort of protection and that I can't copy it. Any way to get around that?

I don't burn DVDs, if I did... I'd download them from
