Default Starting hands concepts- Do I have the Gist of it?

I have been playing for four month and have read a few books: Winning low limit holdem, Holdem Excellence , and Ken Warren teaches texas holdem, reading holdem for advanced players at a snails pace.

I feel I have a decent grasp of starting hands, but I am bad at memorization, so Krieger's charts, Sklansky's groups, and Jones's tables are not committed to memory.

But I feel I have a grasp of the concepts (except for why Sklansky has place some hands in some groups).

My question is on suited connectors below JT. If I am in middle position at a typical table and nobody has opened in front of me I will usually fold these hands (except for T9 which I still might play depending on the table) my reasoning being that I might not have the implied odds that I need to make it worthwhile in the long run (I do the same with small pairs 66 and under). Is this being too tight. Also when looking at implied odds can you count the blinds even though they have not acted yet?

I don't think it's too tight. I fold lower suited connectors if nobody is in when i'm in MP. You need several people to give you the odds you want.

Careful with T9s limping middle position and later with folded to you preflop.

I know one of my friends who plays very well found this to be a leak for him.

Often if there is one open limper middle position, people will PFR many more hands and you don't want to be HUs with T9s.

I know if I'm at the table I will raise one limper with a ton of hands.
