Re: poll for euchre players
scrwe the dealer is the only way to play.
also, i should point out that while euchre is a great game, the canadian version of it is a pile of crap. |

Re: poll for euchre players
I play Screw the dealer simply because it's a waste of time to deal out the cards and have everyone pass and then have to shuffle up again. STD (har har) makes it so the deal doesn't go to waste and it can put the dealer in a good guessing game.

Re: poll for euchre players
4 players (2 teams of 2) - 8 cards each (a-8 plus 5 of hearts, 3 of spades, and 7 clubs and 7 diamonds). ace is high, and rank goes down from there.
dealer rotates every hand clockwise - "under the gun" goes first and either bids or passes. you can either bid "regular" (once bidding has finished the winner picks trump suit) or "no trump" (no trump suit declared), from 7-12 points. the player that acts next MUST bid higher than the previous player (or anything if they passed), except for the dealer, which can take the highest amount for themselves (as a positional advantage) . ranking is 7 regular < 7 no trump < 8 regular < 8NT ..... once the bidding is completed, the person who bid the highest declares their suit (if it's not no trump). the person to the left of the dealer leads any card they wish - you must follow suit always if you have it, and can "trump in" if you have none - each trick is worth 1 point, and the 5 of hearts is worth 5 bonus points, and the 3 of spades is worth minus 3 points. points are given to both teams for how many points are taken in each hand (if declarers don't make their bid they go down by their bid amount). no trump hands are worth double to the declarers if they get it, but also double negative if they don't (the non-declarers only get the normal value of no-trump hands i.e. 1 point for each one) game goes up to 52 - but you must bid out (i.e. you can't win on the other team's bid) or -52 during any bid you can declare kaiser - which is a no trick hand where you have to take every trick except one - and the one you don't take has to have the 3 of spades in it. if you win this hand you win automatically, but if you lose it you lose automatically. this is nearly impossible to actually do, but is an option if you're way behind. i think this is pretty thorough |
