This is a glorified bad beat post. How else are you supposed to play this? Check/fold? Come on.

Matt, you might have had a shot at breaking Maris' record in 1994 if the players didn't go on strike. Does that ever piss you off?

What exactly do you mean by "old geezers" and "old farts"? Are they around 35 or somewhere north of there?

I haven't been to the Borg in a while, but when did they start spreading $4-8? Last time I was there, they spread $2-4, $3-6, $6-12, etc.

I know the Trop spreads $4-8, which is where we've been going lately, because it's much easier to get into all kinds of games (from $2-4 limit and up to $1-2 NL and up).

But when did the Borg start spreading $4-8?

I don't think so. I was there about a month ago and still just 2-4, 3-6, and 6-12 for low limits.

I've never heard a 35 year old be referred to as a geezer. I would assume 60s and 70s...

The only real question you can ask is whether he's a calling station or the rock of gibraltar.

If he's calling a lot and never raising (and if you don't raise with KK what do you raise with? -- yeah, I know, we'll wait for AA), then you did well and got off cheaply.

On the other hand, if this guy never calls at all unless he has the nuts, radar may go up. Unless you've been playing with him forever, and knows that he wouldn't call unless he can beat a pair using the top card on the board, I don't see you getting away from this hand.

So, you fed the fish, filet him next time.

This weekend was the first time I was there. (Usually I play at the Trop) I looked at the board and they had a $4-$8 game going so I asked to play it. I did notice they had 3 or 4 $3-$6 games and 1 $6-$12 game.
