AQo from Stars Re-buy last night

Into the 3rd hour, approximately 200 players left, I am in the top 20 in chips (~47K) and have the biggest stack at my table.

Blinds were 600/1200 with 50ante. Villan to my right (~25K) open raises to 3600, and I re-raise to 5K with AcQd. All folds to villan who calls. Flop is QJT, 2 clubs. Villan checks, I bet 4800, villan instantly goes all-in. I thought for a second and folded.

Comments???

I have no problem with your flop play. All of his most likely hands have you in serious trouble (AK, AA, KK, QQ, JJ, TT). Since you have the Ac, he less likely to be making this move with a flush draw since it's not the nut flush draw. I guess the best you could hope for is that he's got KQ or AQ.

My question is what you were trying to accomplish with the small raise preflop. If you want to push him out, you need to raise more. If you're trying to trap, it's tough to trap, catch a pretty good flop for your hand, then still need to fold to a raise.

Did you have a read on the other player? What would you have done if he re-raised you before the flop?

I was in the CO (or CO -1), and he was to my immediate right.

I was the chip leader at our table, a couple of people had in the 20K range, 3 or 4 in the 15K range, 1 or 2 under 10K, but no one horribly short stacked, IIRC.

If I had called and lost the hand, I would have been middle of the pack at my table.

I haven't even looked postflop yet. I am trying to go through the things that need to be considered. Not only your stack and villain's stack but position the action is happening, as well as the stack sizes of remaining players. I think it is important to assess all of the relevant factors before considering options. I would also consider the quality of players behind me, and then decide what to do. I just feel you have posted it without complete information.

I think your reraise preflop is too small, either you flat call or make it about 5k to go IMO.

On the flop you need to know your opponent but I am often folding.
