Default Try to stack him or control pot? 5/10 6max

Maybe this is a boring hand. I have AQs. One limps. I raise on the button. Blinds fold. It is headsup. Villain is tight preflop, not sure postflop.

About 100 in pot now. Flop comes AA9. He checks. I bet pot. He calls. I'm certain he doesn't have AK or 99 because he would have raised those preflop.

Turn [Pot: 300ish]. offsuit 4. He checks. I check.

River [Pot: 300ish]. Another offsuit rag. He bets 250ish. I call.

Standard? Who bets the turn hard in an attempt to stack an inferior ace here?

against tight player, you should lean towards checking
against donks, bet the turn

Howcome no river raise especially given your read? doesn't really make sense.

Given your read, no hand beats yours other than A9, A4, or A-rag on the river. I don't understand your check on the turn if you aren't going to raise the river. I thought the reason why you checked the turn was to get him to lead into you on the river so you could raise?

Good point. I should have raised the river. At the time I was worried of being reraised and not getting a call from an inferior ace. I think a minraise would have been good. I played it poorly.

Your river action is not consistent with the knowledge you claim to have about your opponent's hand.

I'm making a moderate-sized bet on the turn here, but as played I think you have an easy river raise.

I way prefer betting the turn to raising the river.

I do, and I pray for a check/raise. Then I go all in on the river.

The only reason to check the turn is to get action from a pocket pair that didn't believe your "continuation bet" on the flop.

I would just be trying to play a big pot and bet/raise at every opportunity. It's times like this when you pray that your image is good enough to get paid by a crappy kicker here.

Pray for a checkraise? are you also praying that you lose the hand?
