300 BB is pretty standard so if you were to play 1/2 you would need around 600 dollars, if this is your first time playing for real money I would read SSH and increase your Bankroll to around 500.

Hi, and welcome to the boards and online poker. I reccomend playing the penny games for a few days to get adjusted to playing for real money. Even for pennies people play a little tighter to the vest. I'm a little crazy about bankroll management so I have 1000 for each level I play at. I just can't imagine going on a downswing and losing a 1/3 of it. Good luck!

I'd start at the bottom limit if you've never played for money before.

So start at the Stars .02/.04 games for about a month or so, and then move to .05/.10.

Don't be in a hurry to play higher limits. You go broke that way.

I disagree that you should start at the bottom limits. If you have any significant experience playing with friends or have read a book, you should be able to beat .05/.1 very easily. A friend of mine just started at the .25/.5 and did fine.

With $50, I think you have enough to start at .1/.2 if stars offers that limit. My plan while I played was to move up around 240BB, but I am willing to move back down if necessary. If you do not want to ever move back down, stick to the 300BB plan, which case you should win $10 at the .05/.1 before trying .1/.2

That's my 2 cents - don't bother with the 2 cent game.
