Players deal, two decks, good pace, and overall fun. The crowd was much better the I had expected. The rednecks were very friendly.

I went to the club that was advertised. It's in VA about 25 mins from DC. They usually play 2-5 NL - game is pretty soft, the people are nice, and the owner seems fairly solid. The post was made in the "homes games" under Washington, DC poker or something akin. Hope this helps..

Do a search for more info. They are trying to get table games (including poker) legalized at WVA racetracks.

Fearing lost business to forthcoming Pennsylvania slots palaces, the West Virginia senate considered a bill this past spring (SB 442) that would have allowed counties with existing racetrack with slot machines to vote to allow for table gaming at those same locations. The bill died in committee in April.

Some metropolitan planning commission tried a resolution this past May to bring about the same kind of vote, but the resolution failed.

The legislature does not convene again until January 2006. If they took up the bill and passed it, then the electorate would still have to vote on it, which means another delay. The bill does allow for a special election (no sooner than 90 days after the bill becomes law) but the election board may require the petitioning racetrack to pay for the whole cost of the vote.

So at the earliest, this could happen in late Spring 2006. Considering that the Pennsylvania slots that precipitated this bill are now in legal doubt, that is highly optimistic.

Just gonna bump this once every few days for a few weeks to see if anyone has any info.

Incidentally, if anyone knows anything about games/rooms in the Baltimore area, that would also be cool.
