In Australia (some states)

Beer comes in pots

so you can have your cake and eat it too

wasnt there a very good canadian cue sports guy who drank like 17 pints of beer during a match and attempted to claim it on his tax as being neccesary to sustain his performance ?

Depends on what game you play: Pot adversely affects short term memory, so stud is not recommended.

Hold Em generally benefits from aggressiveness, so alcohol is recommended.

In live play, especially for NL, where you'd like to make it hard for your opponents to get a read on you, LSD is recommended: you could be giggling or gasping in horror for any number of reasons, generally unrelated to the cards you are holding.
