Does it bother you...
... that when it comes to politics, nothing you do or say matters? With 350 million voters, it really doesn't matter how much you love/hate Bush/Kerry/whoever. You are powerless to change anything about any social issue, whether it be the war in Iraq, health insurance, or anything else. These 350 million easily-manipulated plebes are voting based on whoever has the best TV commercial script writers, the best last name, or the best hair, and no matter how close the election was, your vote didn't count.

Re: Does it bother you...
There aren't 350,000,000 voters. And if you know the right people, and/or adopt the right tactics, and/or are part of the right organization, you aren't powerless.

Re: Does it bother you...
There aren't even 350,000,000 Americans; only 120,000,000 voted in the 2004 elections, anyway.
Politics is more than federal; it's relatively easy to have a political impact in your locality/community. |

Re: Does it bother you...
It's called "rational voter ignorance." Since one person's vote is extremely unlikely to affect any one election, it is actually not rational to spend lots of time researching the candidates or topics.

I agree. Most people who care about politics (myself included) do so for the same reason someone might be interested in chess, they enjoy it.

Re: Does it bother you...
It bothers me more that people forget where the power really lies in America. Every Bush action that degrades this country further? We pay the bills for it, our public servants enforce it, and our indulgence allows it to continue. How much longer? And on that same note: consider the sheer scale of the propaganda operation that is being used to keep the people of this nation in line. It's simply astonishing. You literally cannot turn on a radio or a television set or open a newspaper without being literally carpet-bombed with right-wing talking points, over and over and over again. There is literally NO representation of the left in the major media of this country anymore. It's all propaganda, all the time. And yet the dissent continues, and is growing by the day. Even with all this MASSIVE propaganda support, Bush can't get his public support out of the low 40's. THAT is saying something. How much longer can this state of affairs go on? There is only so much more that the right-wing machine can do. And the public is much more aware of the situation than the right-wing would like. Just some thoughts for the moment, anyway. q/q |

You can dispute that if you want and you will, but find me soemthing that says otherwise, remember my stat is innocent untill proven guilty heh. |

I don't think this guy has ever produced a shred of evidence with his claims.
