I agree with you that raising might have given me some information preflop, but how much to raise? I don't want to put in 20% of my stack with Jacks preflop and even then Aces might smoothcall to give me misinformation.

I think raising is much more important if I were, say, in the BB and had to act first on the flop (If I decided to play the hand at all).

Grifter, I think knowing your opponents' stack sizes in absolute terms would be useful, especially UTG+1. If UTG+1 has a fairly large stack, say 100K, then his flop raise to 10K really isn't as scary; in that case if I had your JJ I would probably push, believing my hand was best. With a stack that big, UTG+1 might easily have a hand like AK or KQ (in other words, just playing around, trying to push you and the flop bettor out of the pot).

On the other hand, if UTG+1 has something like 40K or 50K, then you have to take his raise to 10K as indicating more strength -- he believes that he has the best hand.
