Interesting FF Scoring League (LONG)

I just got invited by a friend to join this league. Last year top scorers were: Peyton, Culpepper, Ravens, Buffalo, Tomlinson. League used to have a separate draft for Defense, but has decided to incorporate it into 1 draft. This is a very strange league which had like 6 D's in the top 20 scoring. I'm looking for a little strategy as to how to approach this draft. I have the #5 pick. It's a 14 man league. I can almost guarantee it will go Peyton, Tomlinson, Culpepper, Holmes.

Should I even bother with this league? Is the scoring too complicated? $150 buy-in, winner takes down $1000.

Holy crap....way too long to read. But some general advice.

If you play, make sure you understand all the rules. If you DO understand them all, I don't know why it wouldn't be worth it.

Now, regarding the draft and D's.....how many points a D scores is almost meaningless. For example, if the best skill players score 1000 points, but the best defense scores 1500 points, that's meaningless. What is important is where to run-of-the-mill defenses score? In the preceding example, if the 15th best defense still scores like 1350 points, then you can still draft a defense way late.

Relative positional value is more important than absolute value.
