Dual Monitor Setup

I have a dell dimension 3000 right now hooked up to a 17 in lcd but am looking to hook up a second 17 in lcd to the computer. From my searching It seems that i wont be able to do this without purchasing and installing another graphics card. First question is if anybody knows if this is true or if there is a way to hook 2 up and if not what kind of graphics card should i look to get, just another to hook the other monitor to or a card capable of dual monitor hook up?

thanks for the search was yahoon just to try and understand all the terms so would it be better to purchase another single card and just use both cards or purchase a card that can handle dual monitors. Just to say the cheaper the better for me
