you have to bet to see where you are. at least a half pot on the flop.
otherise, you're behind A2+

Do you really bet half pot on this flop? Hero knows where he is. He is either way ahead, or way behind. You dont bet flop to see where you are. You MIGHT make a case for betting the flop to stop 1010-jj other random cards you are beating to try and take it away on later streets.

They're either smaller and are check/fold, or they're big enough to give the free card. If I'm either way ahead or way behind, why should i spend money to find out which one? Why do you bet to see where you're at?

If I check the flop and bet the turn when checked to, I think this is really good spot for someone to put me on a steal and raise me big. I don't think worse hands call my turn bet, they raise it. Maybe I'm inducing a bluff here. I'm gonna call a lot of river bets.

Standard. At least for me.
Will Ace-small/King-small fold to a small turn/river bet? Maybe / depends. Will Ace-small/King-small fold to a large turn/river bet? Sure, but a big bet here would be insane, right? Will anything we beat call? No. I think checking down this is both +EV and -variance.
