Default A9s against a semibluff

This guy is (28/7/1.3). I check the flop to avoid a checkraise and take a free card and hopefully improve a backdoor flush. The turn I felt was a semibluff or a made hand, so I have to call it down the whole way, correct?

Or does the huge river bet require a laydown?

I'm trying to think if that was a $37 pot on the river, if I would call a $60 bet. I'm not so sure.

I'm not really in love with the line you took. I don't hate it either. I'm kind of in the middle. I guess a turn spade, 8 or 9 helps your hand out. I just like to be the one dictating the action when given the opportunity. It's checked to you and you have TP. I would lean toward betting there and starting the information gathering process.

Your line would be perfectly fine if villian didn't overbet the river. Maybe I am being results orientated.

Looks ok, but I dont like A9 to a raise. Also that river overbet is suspicious.

He has AA right ?

I see what you're getting at, but you do not want to give a free card here to KQ or KJ here. I think a bet is mandatory.

Fold this preflop. A suited ace with a weak kicker doesn't like to be heads up against a preflop raiser (especially coming in from UTG. It's a hand that likes unraised pots with lots of limpers. An excellent preflop guide for NL can be found here.

Bet the flop. That T means you cannot give a free card here, because a number of hands have gutshots.

I'm not folding to that turn bet getting 18-1 (lol), but I'm definitely not giving him much action on the river either. A bet like that smells. He might be making a small bet w/ KK or JJ here though. Call and see if his river action is consistent with that possibility.

River: Ok, this is 100% donk slowplaying pocket aces. Fold.
