Default Kansas City advice

Going next month with my wife and a few other couples looking to stay at a casino with nice places to eat, pampering for the wives and some good mid limit action(15/30 or 20/40). Is this possible in KC? I have heard they have some nice casinos but hoping for advice here. Also any suggestions for a night out away from the casino would be great.

Do NOT go to Jack's Stack for BBQ. It sucks. That is all.

If you are looking in the 15/30 or 20/40 range your only option is Ameristar. It is the only place in town that has limit games in that range. If you want to play no-limit then go over to Harrah's. They usually have plenty of $200 or $300 buy in no-limit games. Sometimes they have $500 or $1000 buy in as well. Usually only 3/6 or 4/8 limit though. Isle of Capri is all low limit as well.

As far as food I wouldn't limit myself to the casino's for a good meal. There are lots of other good places to eat. Let me know what kind of food you are looking for and I can point you in the right direction.

The wives will have to look outside of the casino's as well for the pampering.

$1000 buy in NL? Isn't there a state law that says you can only buy in for $500 every two hours?

Thanks dld. A nice steakhouse or seafood place. The trip is for a pretty special occasion for the group so a neat place to eat out one night would be great. Also how are the mid limit games and do they stay full or play mostly short handed?

I think Ameristar is the place to go. Especially if you want to play limit. Ameristar, in my opinion is alot nicer than Harrah's NKC (though I can't comment on the rooms, etc.). If you don't mind a VERY short drive, stay at Ameristar, and take the 5 minute drive to Harrahs for your no limit game.

For food, and the wives to do some shopping, etc. I would go to the plaza. Lots of nice resturaunts, and a really nice shopping district. The big bar district (westport) isn't too far from the plaza either, if you're into that sort of thing. Jack Stack is good BBQ, but not the best in town, by any means. The most famous BBQ eatery in town would be Arthur Bryant's, but again, not the best. As far as stakehouses, the Plaza III on the plaza is good. I also like Ruth's Chris. There is a sports bar up north called Chapelle's that was rated in the top 10 (I believe) for sports bars in the country by SI last year. It is more of a resturaunt than a bar though, but has TONS of memorabilia, like an A's World Series trophy, etc. Cool place that's not far from those 2 casino's either. Any other questions, I'd be glad to help.

Yeah there is that silly law. But they don't time exactly when people buy chips. I believe the way it works is you can only buy $500 between predetermined 2 hour intervals. Like you could buy $500 between 6-8pm and then again from 8-10pm. So you could buy $500 at 7:55 and then another $500 at 8:05. I hope that made sense. Alot of people will just color up when they leave and keep several black chips on hand so they don't ever have to worry about the limit.

I can't really tell you too much about seafood places because I don't eat much seafood, but I hear alot of people talk about McCormick and Schmicks. You could also try Skies for seafood. Skies is on top of the Hyatt Hotel and it is one of those revolving restaurants. For steaks you could try the Majestic, Phillips Chophouse, Benton's Steak and Chop House, or Plaza III.

As for the mid-limit games I can't really tell you. They are only spread at Ameristar and I haven't played there in quite a while.
