Default What do you do during a Big downswing?

I'm just wondering what many of you do during a big downswing, as I am going through one right now and would like some advice. Do you keep playin knowing that it will get better soon? Do you stop playing for a couple of days? Read books? Feel free to suggest anything that helps you, I would be glad to hear it.

I'm going through one now to. I work on my game as much as possible, and read as much as I can. Although I may not actually do as much of that as I should, it keeps me thinking about the best way to play the game.

I don't whine about it, I try to play well, and I don't whine about it.

A couple things to bear in mind

1. Everyone has swings, both up and down due to variance, is it just a mild downswing? If so don't worry about it

2. If it is a MAJOR downswing, that is you wouldn't expect it to be part of "normal" variance you must ask yourself this question, "WHY am I on a downswing?"

Are you playing too loose? Maybe sitting in too tough games? Examine your play during the downswing. If you can spot something you're doing wrong, then stop it. If you are making the correct decisions (remember good poker is about always making the correct decision) then maybe you're just in a period of really bad luck (which happens).

Another thing I do is go down in limit, if I'm taking a beating at 2/4 I go down to .5/1 or 1/2 to fix my game, that way if I'm still playing bad it won't cost as much.

What I do is wait for the rakeback money to come in next month so I can get started rebuilding at .5/1.
