Default $400NL, Top2 on paired board ,facing river bet.

Villian is awful, 50/26/1.85 after 172 hands. I've been value betting him to death. He's too loose and goes to showdown with a lot of dominated hands. I haven't seen him pull a "move" like this before.

Party Poker No-Limit Hold'em, $ BB (10 handed) converter

Hero ($852.30)
SB ($489.80)
BB ($372.60)
UTG ($617.30)
UTG+1 ($725.30)
UTG+2 ($462.50)
MP1 ($400)
MP2 ($759.40)
MP3 ($786.10)
CO ($249.75)

Preflop: Hero is Button with Q[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img], K[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]. SB posts a blind of $2.
UTG calls $4, UTG+1 calls $4, 4 folds, CO calls $4, Hero raises to $20, 2 folds, UTG calls $16, UTG+1 folds, CO folds.

Flop: ($54) Q[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img], 4[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img], J[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] (2 players)
UTG checks, Hero bets $40, UTG calls $40.

Turn: ($134) J[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] (2 players)
UTG checks, Hero bets $60, UTG calls $60.

River: ($254) K[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] (2 players)
UTG bets $250, Hero

My plan was to take a free showdown unless I improved.
I should probably have bet a little more on the turn.

I dont know, the turn action is dodgy, if those figures say he is passive then dont call, if he is aggro then i dont know...i might call.
How bout checking behind on turn to catch bluffs on river?

He's played very pasively in the pots I've had against him and I didn't want to give a free card to his possible flush draw. And from what I had seen he wasn't the type to bluff the river if he checked behind on the turn. His stats suggest that he isn't overly passive, but he had been quite passive against me atleast.

This is a standard turn check.

Really? I kind've like betting turn here since there's a pretty decent shot he's on a draw.

if the 4 paired I'd be more inclined to bet..but since it is someone likely the villan called him on the flop with a J, checking the turn in my opinion makes the hand super-easy to play.

I think it's a check, less because I know what he has, and more because I don't really want to play a big pot here.

Yeah and I could have easily folded if Villian had potted a diamond river.

I bet the turn because I thought I had Villian all figured out. Guess not.

I let the timer run all the way down thinking about what he could have. I thought his most likely hands were (in order of likely hood)

* Some sort of J hoping I'll make a stupid river call.
* KX[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] hoping I'll call w/ a worse hand.
* Something else.

I almost called. But i chickened out and folded. He showed Q8[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]. Meh.

Guess this wasn't the worlds most interesting hand, but I really appreciate the advice.
