Default Sunburn

So I went fishing all Saturday instead of working. I now have the worst sunburn I've ever had in my life. Problem is I need to work outside Monday morning and it is severly painfull to even put a shirt on. Unfortunately I work on the road and in areas where shirts are required and calling in sick is not an option.

Does anyone have any suggestions on over-the-counter medications that work the best?

aloe vera tends to sooth nicely but i don't have any specific recommendation.

call up the local pharmacy that you plan to go to and ask them

Aloe vera is good. I highly recommend using solarcaine burn relief with aloe vera as well. It will take away the burn in itch. Using both a lotion and the solarcaine should help you recover much quicker and hopefully make it through the day.

Unfortunately? You would rather go shirtless and be subject to further sunburn than to put up with the discomfort of wearing a shirt ? I always found Noxema to a provide pretty good relief from sunburn pain.

I got so sunburnt a few years ago kayaking. My ankles got so swollen that I couldn't put on shoes for 3 days, and like the OP, I couldn't wear a shirt. I work in an office, and missed 3 days of work. When I went back to work, I couldn't stand still, I'd have to pace or rock back and forth to keep changing the pressure on my feet.

But I used solarcaine, and even though it sounds like I was miserable, solarcaine is the only thing that would help me keep my sanity. I used it liberally, and would recommend doing the same.

The worst part is, after a week or so, you might have all your skin peel all over your body. Just be standing still and start to notice random skin shaving fall off your arms/chest/legs etc. Horray.
