Default attn: all who played foxwoods friday april 1st

ok, i know that there are always long waits especially on weekends and on top of that the NEPC is going on, but has there ever been a more poorly run poker room in the history of the world? i waited for 2 hours for a 1/2 NL table. that is pretty standard for a friday night but there were empty seats everywhere. the floorpeople were all just hanging around talking about their kids and basically doing everything that they are NOT paid to do. i was walking around and noticed empty 1/2 seats at at least half the tables, the problem wa the dealers were never calling out the seats, the floor people were nowhere to be found to even help, and there were over 100 heads waiting to sit. one of the guys i went down with ended up seating himself. nobody said a word to him. finally once i was seated with the friday night drunk maniacs we had 3 all ins preflop with 4 people in on the hand. the dude with 9H 4H made quads and took all 3 other guys money and he took his 2 full racks of reds and left. another player left after that as well. we are now 5 handed. FIVE HANDED! i was asking the dealer to call it out. he didnt even shout out "seat open." we were all getting on his case. it took between 20 and 30 minutes to get those seats filled even though the place was packed and there were litterally hundreds of people wanting seats. even after the floor was notified, it still took them forever to get players in.
i really dont know what to say about that place anymore. it is almost as if when it gets a little to crazy in there, they just give up and let the mob rule. in every job that i have ever known, you are fired if you can perform up to a certain standard. foxwoods needs a serious overhaul and at least someone to come in (mohegan sun) and give them competition because foxwoods can get away with treating their plaers like crap and have low standards at "the wonder of it all."
any thoughts on this matter are appreciated. am i just fired up and alone in a crowd in this matter or does 2 hours of waiting drive everyone else nuts and you already have a headache before you even sit at the table?

Frank,

I was there yesterday. I thought the floor was a little understaffed myself. The growd was VERY big, even at 2:00pm.

Having said that, the problem you describe is EVERYONE'S fault. When I sit in a game, and a player leaves, I usually give the dealer a minute or two to cal the seat. If they don't do it by them, I do it myself. When games go short, it is the responsibility of the floor and the dealer to fill the game. When they go short for too long, the players should yell out "seat open", unless they want to play short handed.

My point is that if you don't speak up, things won't get done. And I don't mean speaking up by beating up the dealer. God gave you a voice, use it. I am by no means defending the floor or the dealers at Foxwoods (they aren't the greatest staff in the world), I'm saying that in this situation, you can do something about it.

Wasn't there, but I imagine half the floor was downstairs, dealing the NEPC or supporting it...

I don't mind speaking up

Agreed. I will either, prod the dealer, or shout/inform the floor myself. What gets on my nerves though is when the floor hears, acknowledges and ignores...

WIth the technology they have there with the networked board, there should be a button to push at the table which would tell the post/enqueu system about the open seat...

It's the responsibility of the dealer to deal the game NOT fill the game. The dealer may or may not call to the floor about the empty seat. If the dealer does this it is a courtesy.

You may not be completely familiar with the size of the cardroom at Foxwoods. It is second only to the Commerce in size and number of tables. It would be very difficult for the floor to keep all games full at all times without the assistance of the dealers calling out open seats, especially when they are short staffed because there are 500+ more players playing in a tournament at the complete opposite end of the resort.

Maybe we can agree that it is the responsibility of the card room staff to keep a game full for all its players. Under this definition, dealers hold some responsibility.

IDK if it works at foxwoods, but I just take good care of my dealers at TS....saves alot of time I rarley call in, and when I do most of the dealers that are on the shift that I play know my initals on the board and if they know I am gonna be there in 5 minutes they wont call up the seat right away, and will give me 5 minutes to get there or, if I walk in and a seat just opened they point at me and the seat and I sit right down.....Kinda corrupt....But I like it

The only problem with Foxwoods is that they screw their dealers in many ways including pooling tips with the rest of the casino. That 11 bucks an hour is garbage compared to how much they could make in a well run card room. The Woods just treats poker like regular table games and they can because they are basically the only (legal) game in town. Next is 4 hour to AC or the Stone in NY.

Pretty much matches my experience. Then again, as has already been mentioned, you can always shout at the floor.

It's been my experience that if the players don't make a lot of noise, the seats just don't get filled.
