Default 18th bday = first ever live experience

I will be turning 18 on July 25th, and my family will be taking me up to Soaring Eagle Casino, in Mt. Pleasent, Michigan. I will be looking to play some poker up there, and I was interested if anyone on this forum has any experience playing there?

I play online on Party and I am a winning player at the 6max NL 25 and NL 50 tables over 65,000 hands. So any advice on game selection at Soaring Eagle or for live play in general would be great and much appreciated.

Furthermore, This obviously is my first trip to a live casino to play poker, I have read the "sticky" post at the begiging of this forum. Yet, the whole process of getting chips, getting a seat, and getting settles in, still seems rather daunting and intmidating haha... any additional advice?

Once again thanks in advance, and if anyone is in the area and wants to teach this Live play rookie some lessons let me know

Be sure to wear sunglasses and your Partypoker hat.

Find someone from the floor, they would be glad to point you in the right direction.

Ya know, I had to read the post. From the title, I wasn't sure you were talking about Poker!!!

Ok, seriously, go to the person maintaining the list they should tell you everything you need to know.

Even if you've played a lot, it's a good idea to check, different rooms have different blind structures, kills, etc. so it's good to know what you're getting into.

Tell the dealer and the table " Hey, I am a newbie" they will be nice and help you and you should get a lot of action.

The floor is a person walking around with a clipboard with seating assignments, table lists etcc... Go up to him and say " I would like to play 4-8, 5-10 whatever. He will point you to a table or put your name on the list and call your name when it is ready. Go to the table, take the empty seat and put your money in front of you and the dealer will sell you chips or get a chip runner to get them from the cage {cashier]. I would wait for the blinds and observe the table.

All smart-ass comments aside... Buy into the lowest game available, even if you are playing 10/20 online. Just get used to the flow of the game. Although you may multitable online, there are a great many distractions in live play that can take away from your ability to play your best game.

Once you are able to stay focused on the game and get used to live play, then move up.

Buy in for a rack or two of whatever chips they are using for that game. Remember to tip the waitress, chip-runner and dealer.

Surprisingly, this is not a bad idea. Experienced players will peg you as a newbie anyway. Players who suck won't notice, regardless of what you say.

Thanks for all the information and advice, I really appreciate it. Apparently they have a 1/2 (100 buy in) NL game and a 3/6 limit game. I'm used to playing NL online and in home games, However, I feel my limit is still decent and suitable. MY question is which game would I be better sitting at for my first time playing live? Thanks again...

If there isn't a chip runner, buy your chips at the cage, the table will appreciate it.
