Re: Good place for a stop n go?

[ QUOTE ] I'm not sure about that here, as he could be raising for a free card on this draw heavy board, and I'm not inclined to give it to him. [/ QUOTE ] Does someone with an AF of 1 raise for free cards? [/ QUOTE ] Maybe. |

Re: Good place for a stop n go?
Did so with KTo...I caught a J on the river, and he called. New players should play this hand with caution until they get as good as I am at catching 2 pair.

Re: Good place for a stop n go?
KQ is possible here because he might not 3 bet that preflop, so I almost like the stop and go more than the bet-3 bet the flop line against this type of player - he'll go into calldown mode with KQ likely, or even 66, and I'll spew on the turn and river.
the stop and go allows me to get away cheap on the turn if he raises - I find that these stop and go's are rarely smooth called by better hands, and this player will probably not semi bluff raise twice. if called on the turn, it's time for the value bizzle on the river. a turn raise, and I fold. if he outplayed me with KTs or whatever, then hey folding the best hand sometimes is part of poker. |

Re: Good place for a stop n go?
I like this BUT you have to give serious consideration to KQ or AK here. After all, a solid player is cold-calling with something preflop, right? So if I'm raised on the turn, I think I fold against a tight, not that aggressive sort.

Re: Good place for a stop n go?
whats up with all these posts with disjointed flop/turn plans? call the flop/bet out on the turn, call a flop raise on a draw heavy board/checkraise the turn. it all can be so easily exploited by him checking through! 3-bet the flop and go from there.

Re: Good place for a stop n go?
how can a stop and go be exploited by him checking the turn?

how can a stop and go be exploited by him checking the turn? [/ QUOTE ] this was a response to an earlier post where the guy called the flop raise with a plan to checkraise the turn. as far as stop-n-going goes, it sort of has the same principle because you're letting him off cheaply on the flop by not 3-betting him. stop n go's with this type of hand sucks. |
