Re: JJ on Q-high flop
Unless the table has been dead passive, you have to figure that you are good. Bet.

Re: JJ on Q-high flop
A read on the BB would help, but I'd bet this river and call a c/r against an unknown

Re: JJ on Q-high flop
this is one of the situations i have trouble with, and im sure there is some math to justify what to do. what can BB possible have, flush draw, pair queens, pair 10's, unimproved A rag, or any number of other hands, but thats what i have to think he's got. you gotta think he will call with the pair of Q's and 10's, and fold the busted flush and any other overcards (unless you have a some knowledge about his play). i dont fear a check raise considering his play so far, so either you beat him into submission when he was ahead, or you are far ahead. how many times will he call the river bet with a worse hand? im not quite sure how to figure this out, but i would prolly bet the river, he has shown no stregth the whole hand, keep the pressure up and bet.

Re: JJ on Q-high flop
I think it's still best to bet this river. It's very uncommon for party players to try something fancy like a river check-raise. But checking is not a very big error I think, all in all betting would be probably more +ev.

Bet, he will probably call if he can beat AK. Call if he CR.

Re: JJ on Q-high flop
bet the river. i think you are ahead at this point. theres no reason for him to be slow-playing top pair, mostly because he would be risking letting you draw to an overpair (A or K) very cheaply. I'd put him on a lower pair or one of the many draws that were out there. You know he doesn't have a straight or flush. The only other possibility would be if he was stupidly slow-playing 2-pair or trips, which is highly unlikely considering all of the possible draws out there. so yeah, i definately think you are ahead. if you get C/R, call it down. however, i'd be very surprised if he C/R.

Re: JJ on Q-high flop
Oh yes, I bet. The second Q makes it less likely he has one.

Results
Due to the amount of replies already, I guess I can give you the results now.
Most opponents be aggressive somewhere in the hand with top pair. Not everyone though. But given his lack of check-raise etc, I was pretty sure he wouldn't have a Q way more often than he would. Because of this I figured it was an easy bet. My opponent folded, so I guess he was on a draw or looking for an ace or whatever. |

Re: JJ on Q-high flop
Player dependant
An aggressive player would have raised you at some point here, a passive player wouldnt. OTH, your chance of being c/r goes up with an agressive player. I lean towards betting. |
