Default Pokertracker and Hardrive Question

Assuming you have a 3Ghz+ cpu and 1Ghz ddr ram, would getting a 10k rpm 80 gig harddrive for PT and getting a separate 250 gig 7200 hardrive for storage of pokertracker databases show a significance improvement in speed than just getting just a 7200 rpm hardrive? Is it worth the extra money to fork out for the 10K rpm hardrive?

You would have to keep your database on the 10k RPM drive to see the speed increase. Otherwise you are just calling over to the 7200 RPM drive, which will acess the data at 7200 RPM instead of 10K.

If you have windows installed on the 10K RPM drive you will see a speed improvement all around.

Bottom line the minor performance increase you're likely to see isn't worth the extra cost. Now if you're running a lot of other data intensive stuff on your system, especially if you're running multiple data intensive apps simultaneously, it becomes a different issue.
