Congrats! What was your playing progression (limits/time) to get to 100/200?

[/ QUOTE ]

I'd say it took about a year and a half to move from 5/10 to 100/200.

Just remember this is not your money to keep.

This is your money to hold on to until your true winrate pans out.

[/ QUOTE ]

Absolutely wrong.

[/ QUOTE ]

How is this absolutely wrong? If you are winning 20 bucks an hour in the long term, and one hour you win 100 dollars, then you actually did not make 100 dollars. You made 20 dollars....in the long term.

Every hour you play you make 20 dollars regardless of how much you actually win or lose in the short term.

[/ QUOTE ]

No, you really would have made $100. That's real money and is yours to keep. Your future win rate is still expected to be $20/hr. It's not like it will be -$20/hr for the next two hours to even things out. This doesn't mean that long term, his average win rate will be higher than $20/hr, though. As the number of hours played approaches infinity, his actual winrate will approach $20/hr.

After 1 hour -> $100/hr

After 5 hours -> $36/hr ({100 + 4*20} / 5)

After 50 hours -> $21.60/hr ({100 + 49*20} / 50)

After 500 hours -> $20.16/hr ({100 + 499*20} / 500)

After inf hours -> $20/hr

[/ QUOTE ]

Ahh yes I think we are talking about the same thing, only I really didn't explain what I meant properly. I was referring more towards the feeling that if one plays for a long run they should expect the make their consistent hourly rate over an infinate run of time regardless of what they made in the short term.

In one of Ed Millers posts about becoming pro he writes something to the tune of...'what should you do with the money if your expected earn is 3,000 and you make 5,000?? Absolutely nothing. That money is not yours to keep. It should go uninvested and unspent, because you're going to have months where you only make 1,000 and that extra money better be there to support you'

That is more of what I was referring to...the comment I made in the first place wasn't really necessary to this thread so next time I'll leave ideas to the people who write them

Blinds at NL400 are 2/4, and he only has 37BB/100 in ~350 hands. He is obviously joking.

Actually on Prima the $200/400NL shows up like that. So yeah, that is a real PT shot, just not of me.
