Default WSOP circuit event day 1

All I can say is I'm about to fall asleep before I type this. I'm flooring at the Grand for a couple days to help out. (and the x-tra money helps) I get to work at 8:30 in the morning and come into 1 live game and no players in sight. I'm spoiled by Horseshoe. As the morning wears on I'm told at around 9:30 that I can't open any new tables because the tournament will be sold out, requiring all 78 (I think) tables. Of course this goes over well with the players that are coming in looking for live games. I quietly suggest checking out the Horseshoe to a couple players. As of 11:30 they've sold about 100 alternates so things are looking good. The final number was around 880. Just about the time the first tables start to break, and the list for all games was around 50 players, the P.A. system in the poker room took a dump. Now I have to get all the live games going without a way to page names. Not fun. It was fixed by around 5 or 6pm so that was a plus. SOOOOO... At 9pm, 12 1/2 hours into my shift, I figure I should go home and get some sleep. My wife has called me somewhere around 10 times wondering when to cook dinner. I'm walking out and Johnny Grooms, the tournament director, pulls me over to help with the tax forms for people getting knocked out of the tournament. When I left at 11:30 there we're 28 players left and 3 we're local poker dealers. Who says dealers can't play poker! So.. now its 1:30 in the morning and I need to get some sleep so I can make it back to the Grand at 8:30am. On a side note when I came in my wife was up waiting on me to tell me we're expecting our second baby. What a day.

Todd,
Nice to hear somany people showed up in Tunica. How long were the rounds for the $300 first event? What was top pay out? I may enter the second $300 NL event later this week, once I get down there in a couple days.
Congrats on the news of your second child!

1. Congrats on your expected addition - like previous poster stated, better you than I. We love our two. . but are very done!
2. If anyone is interested in the schedule or blind structure, you can find those on the WSOP homepage here. wsop
3. I guess it would be smart to advance register for these events. I live in Kentucky and was planning on hitting a couple of events at the stop at Caesars Indiana.
4. Steamboatin - It seems you are more of a cash game player, but are you planning on getting in any of these tourneys?
See ya

congrats on the kid.

great news on the turn-out.
Not too shabby at all considering the short notice and it's jsut a month after everyone and their brother (so it seemed) was in Vegas for the various WSOP events.

I've seen the local TV commercian for the event numerous times and was hoping it might help draw some of the Memphis local, home-game and bar-league players too.

(the TV spot is the same as that WSOP-circuit spot where some guy named Mike is just standing there at the camera not blinking and the 'voice' says "okay..you're really angry...lets see it Mike!!" "pull it back a bit Mike. pull it back."
But in the middle they specifically mention 'Play in the WSOP-circuit coming to the Grand Casino in Tunica beginning August 10th."

Also another color ad..1/3 page I think...in the Memphis Flyer (weekly paper). Raymer, Devilfis, Harmon and Doyle are pictured along with a complete list of every single event through the 2 weeks.
I'm guessing the same ad is in the Memphis Commercial-Appeal newspaper as well (the main paper) as well as perhaps some of the northern Mississippi area newspapers.

Maybe but my touramnet game needs a lot of work, so i would only play the lower buyin games. I have been playing a few touraments online with an eye to playing in a WSOP qualifier or circuit event. If I play, I'll be in the cheap seats.
