I actually have to agree with Peachy on this one. BMW M3 is the way to go.

This is a very good point. Granted I go to a very rich school, but all of the cars mentioned in this thread are probably right around the median in terms of price of cars on campus.

In High School, cars did a great job turning heads.

In the real world.. meh... not so much so unless it's an absolute rare gem/beauty like a Lotus Elise.

So unique.

get a classic. since i assume you won't have to commute to a job, and your primary qualifications seem to be style, value and comfort, you should definitly be considering an older car- one that will A: be cheap to maintain, B: get you laid C: maintain it's value (newer cars depreciate in value like crazy)

here's one of my favs- the 62 lincoln... suicide doors, sweet lines, etc. it was the car that morpheus and co rolled in in the first matrix.

this particular one sold for 13k, you'd want to spend a couple more thousand on a stereo, some dice for the mirror, maybe some mods for a little more power, etc...

Default Update:

2003 Subaru WRX - too ugly
99 m3 - I think this is too expensive for something 6 years old, although it looks cool
BMW 330 Coupe - looks cool and is in my price range
Honda S2000 Convertible (2 seater) - looks cool and is in my price range, but i cant drive stick
Infinity G35 Coupe - looks cool and is in my price range
350 Z - looks cool and is in my price range
Chevy Corvette - a little out of my price range and isn't exactly my style
BMW Z3 - looks cool and is in my price range
2002 Lexus IS300 - doesn't look cool enough

So here are the cars i've liked so far
BMW 330 Coupe
Infinity G35 Coupe
350 Z
BMW Z3

Also, I would really appreciate some advice on how to go about buying one of these. Is Carmax the best way to go?

Go with the G35 Coupe for sure. If for some stupid reason you must pick something else from this list, then the Z is 2nd, followed by the 330 and then the Z3.

I'll second Duke's comment about how none of these cars are actually going to turn many heads in L.A. I guess they'll get you to a 'respectable' level, at least. If you really want to stand out, you're going to have to get something more unique - maybe some sort of classic car and fix it up.
