how much of the pot is considered a "value bet"?

Sorry if the question seems vague, but like the title says, how much in relation to the pot? does it depend? thanks

A value bet is just any bet that will be called by worse hands, on average. If you have the nuts on the river, any bet is a value bet. If you have the nut low, no bet is a value bet. Every bet is a bluff. If you have a good hand, you might be able to make a value bet, but some bet sizes would not be value bets because they would push out too many weaker hands.

The right size of a bet to make as a value bet depends on the strength of your hand and the range of hands your opponent could have. See this thread. It's very common to make bets on the river of 1/3 to 1/2 of the pot, but sometimes more or less is appropriate.

The amount is irrelevant. A value bet is a bet you make that you want your opponent(s) to call because you believe your hand will be good the majority of the times you're called.
