Default Bad Breath

Anyone have advice for curing bad breath? I constantly brush my teeth, use mouthwash/floss/tongue cleaner, but none of it works.

I'm not sure if it has to do with eating (I consider my diet normal, just food from school cafeteria) or what, but it is really frustrating.

Anyone have experience with bad breath, or general tips?

The back of my listerine says that if the bad breath continues after a period of two weeks you should see a dentist. I'm assuming they can prescribe something more powerful and make sure that something inside your mouth isn't rotting.

What kind of mouthwash do you use?

You should be using listerine or another antiseptic mouthwash. Scope and most othersdon't kill bacteria, and it's bacteria digesting that causes the bad breath.

Yeah, the bacteria eats whatever it is that it eats then takes a big fat dump in your mouth.

I love the scientific explanations available in OOT.

it's fairly accurate. But the "dump" is mostly gas.

I don't use scope or listerine, but the label says that it is a germ-killing mouthwash. However, itt doesn't say to see a dentist if no results occur after 2 weeks.

I unfortunately was once in your shoes, but no more...

Bad breath has two main sources. Bacteria in your mouth, or a diet that changes the properties of the air in your lungs.

For the bacteria, you may have excess plaque buildup under your gums, basically unreachable by regular means. Your dentist can do what's called 'Scaling' to remove all that plaque and the accumulated dead tissue that is up there (and there will be plenty).
This is a very uncomfortable procedure, but something you should ask about. If you need it and you end up doing this, you will be disgusted by what they scrape out of there.

For the diet, I recommend this product:
Mint Assure
I use 1 or 2 a day, along with good diet and proper oral hygene (like you desccribe), and I very rarely have any more issues.

This sucks, good luck.

Wow casper, thanks for the info.

You can get the mint assure at almost any store, right? The website had a chart, but it didn't have the store I normally shop at. It looked like most stores carried it.
