BTW, if you were truly rational, then, you would've come up with a more intellectual criteria for admitting members. Perhaps a criteria that actually highly correlates with maturity and rationality.

Well as I may have nentioned, actually I rather like Andy's idea of leaving it open as most won't have much of an interest anyway.

However, if you have some criteria in mind which you think would make a good qualifying basis, it would be interesting to hear it.

Alright, geezers, I suggest an under-50 forum. I'm 35 and 9/10ths. The day I listen to only over-50s on any subject is the day I check into the nursing home myself. What are you trying to do to the forum, instigate some kind of reverse Logan's Run-type culling?

Actually, we were hoping to create a demographic which would generate some ad revenue, for things like Viagra. And unlike some people I know, us old geezers don't use it to jerk off.

Dvaut1, you are an honorary 50 year old. To tell you the truth, I proposed the idea in jest (I don't think I've ever written "in jest" before) becasue I got tired of the idiocy on the OOT forum. I think the politics forum works pretty well as it stands.

Default Simplified Criteria

Have you ever used the word "Dude" to address someone? If your answer is yes, well . . . .

So...just speaking hypothetically for a moment...what if nearly commensurate idiocy should overtake this forum as well?

That's what I thought, too, until recently. Not sure, though, just how much of the newer wave of nonsense is purely "forum nonsense", and how much is due to some sort of backlash against the very idea of being moderated at all (or perhaps, the very idea of being moderated by "M"--or both). At any rate, I'm likely soon to be curtailing my online hours so it may become largely a moot point for me anyway. Hopefully, we can manage to meet up this fall.

I assume I've only been given this honorary 50-year old status because we're both Red Sox fans.

I like the politics forum as it stands as well; but I have a fetish for silly-partisan bickering.

OOT reminds me much more of the junior-high school behavior MMMMMM is referring to; but I get a kick out of that, too.

Knowing how much I enjoy the inanity of this forum and OOT, I question whether or not I've got the right kind of character/demeanor for the more mature forum.

Given my steadily-growing gut and affinity for the Kingston Trio, however, I may fit in with the 50 and over crowd just yet.

But like I said, I don't share MMMMMM's Where Have All the Flowers Gone attitude, but I wasn't here back in the good 'ole days, so to speak - had I been, perhaps I would be more nostalgic for the days when this forum was less puerile.
