Re: JJ against LA-P
Why checkraise the flop? Just bet out. No one is folding a king no matter what you do.

Re: JJ against LA-P
Actually, I like this line.
The CO posted. He could have a six, a four, a pocket pair greater than sixes, total junk, or of course, a king. The fact that he called the turn suggests that he has a king, 99, TT, or just picked up a flush draw. At that point, check-calling the river is fine. FWIW, if checking the flop would have caused someone to bet and someone else to call, I'd lay it down. I don't think you can beat two opponents here. If you're behind, you're drawing to two outs since you have no backdoor draws. |

Re: JJ against LA-P
If he bets out, someone who doesn't have a king and doesn't believe that our hero can beat a king may raise our Hero.
In that case, our Hero's best play would be to bet out on the turn. If he gets raised again, he needs to lay it down. Of course, there's a chance that the Villain might fold to a turn bet if the Villain doesn't have a king. And if he does have a king, he'll probably just call the turn. So...yeah, betting out may create the opportunity to take down the pot on the turn. But check-raising the flop and betting the turn may have the same effect. Betting the flop may be a little better since a Villain's raise may force out someone who would have otherwise called (maybe with a 4 or 6 -- or an ace if their calling standards are low). |
