Default Different (for me) pocket pair line....

This happened awhile ago so I don't remember too well but I'm pretty sure the PF 3 bettor was fairly solid. 25/10ish stats. I think this might be the first time I've ever taken this specific line. You like?

Party Poker 15/30 Hold'em (8 handed) converter

Preflop: Hero is UTG with 8[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img], 8[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img].
Hero raises, 3 folds, CO 3-bets, 3 folds, Hero calls.

Flop: (7.66 SB) T[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img], 4[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img], 4[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] (2 players)
Hero checks, CO bets, Hero calls.

Turn: (4.83 BB) 2[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] (2 players)
Hero checks, CO bets, Hero raises, CO calls.

River: (8.83 BB) 6[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] (2 players)
Hero checks, CO checks.

Final Pot: 8.83 BB

why would you not bet the river here? he's not putting you on tens or a four. 25/10 with pocket jacks is probably going to threebet you on the turn.

as far as the flop/turn stuff, it might be ok but i don't do it.

I dont like it. There are so many cards that can come on the turn that will prevent you from getting that checkraise in. Given the line you took you should bet the river but I dont think I like the flop check call at all, it seems frisky for the sake of being frisky, maybe im wrong though.

I think I like a straight call down better.

Or how about: Call, call, bet river.

This is good if you think it's likely he's on overcards and will check through his AK/AQ. He will also be less likely to punish you on the river if he does have an overpair because your lead out could be some back door flush that got there.

Is raising UTG with pocket 8s standard in this game? I've always limped with medium to small pairs hoping to get the pot multi-way and flop a set.

The river check is bad because he is going to bet any hand that has you beat except maybe 99, and you aren't folding.
