"We, the jury, have found sirio11 guilty of limping AA."

Or something like that.

this forum sucks

I think it is a "wtf" type hand. Limping AA from that position is pretty unorthodox (bad/). I rarely limp any hands from that position... if I did so frequently, I could understand sometimes limping a monster to mix my play up, but I don't see any good reason not to bring it in with a raise early on in a tournament like the stars 150.

I think just calling the flop is fine in that situation. The pot is pretty small, and any hand that three bets has you in serious trouble. I dont think raising would have amazing value, compared to just calling. Also, its pretty unlikely that many other people will call behind you and you will have a multi way pot going to the turn, because with 3 clubs out people dont like to get involved without top pair and a club, the nut flush draw, or a flopped flush/set/2pair. The third category has you crushed, and the first you are way ahead of. So, I like his just call on the flop, but he would be able to play a lot more aggresively if he had just raised pre... I dunno if he was just afraid of not getting called or something.

Turn seems fine, river value bet is kind of thin, but it did work out/ Donkish limp pre though

yea it's hard to compete w/ P5's strategy posts sometimes..

.. anyways, yea i don't like the limp pre-either, but it's not that shocking. Jeff said it was in the stars 150, that tournament can be really really tight to start, so if his table was playing that way, maybe a limp could mix it up a bit. so maybe it's ok.

stuff like this is better than "yo cossio wtf" and makes the forum good. I have no shame in berating people who don't specify what the problem is with the hand.

Back to the hand though: For all we know, there could be a couple of aggressive laggros in LP that Sirio already marked and could hope to snap off preflop or get a large pot going, well enough to earn a preflop limp. Fact is, the state of Sirio's limp should not be under question in general because calling or raising that hand could be supremely optimal given the circumstances of the table. Postflop looks fine, river bet doesn't look too thin to me

I wanted to give someone else a chance to comment on the action before posting my opinion. I think the limp is bad. Jeff said it pretty well. (The hand was at his table but we were discussing the plays as they happened so I was aware of the players behind sirio etc.)

There are a lot of reasons and a lot of explantions why to not randomly limp aces in various positions in nlhe with standard stacks. I didn't see any extenuating circumstances here.

Since the topic of these forums sucking has come up I'll try my best to add some real value. Once you limp aces sirio are you planning to fold at any point? If your opponents are so bad you will confidently go broke on any board with aces don't you think they will call an extra 40 or 60 or whatever preflop? Hell in my experience I get more action postflop when I raise. People "put me on ak" and call down with any piece of the flop.

Another question for sirio: if someone did raise were you reraising or calling?

By the way these forums do suck pretty badly compared to both the fixed hold em forums. I rarely play limit hold em and I love reading those. I probably learn more about nl tournament play from those than the posts here. I guess I may have contributed to the general poor quality by making a post directed at another poster. I thought other posters would get a kick out of this unusual (in someone else's words "donkish") play. I guess the beginners can learn not to limp aces.

Oh and I PMed you exitonly.
