99, 3 (ugh) overcards fall...how much aggression here?
This was one of those flops that makes you, or at least me , question just how aggressive to be.
Opponents are both fairly loose and fairly passive. All comments appreciated. Party Poker 3/6 Hold'em (10 handed) converter Preflop: Hero is UTG with 9[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img], 9[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]. Hero raises, UTG+1 folds, UTG+2 folds, MP1 folds, MP2 folds, MP3 folds, CO folds, Button calls, SB folds, BB calls. Re: 99, 3 (ugh) overcards fall...how much aggression here?
This is why I don't like raising 99 from UTG. With TT if overs flop at least you have a backdoor straight possibility.
In this hand I probably bet the flop. You show aggression PF so its tough to check...especially against only 2 opponents. However with a draw heavy board like this, i check the rest of the way and fold to any aggression from these LP players |

Preflop is good.
Given your read on your opponents I check it down and fold to any bet unless I spike a 9. |

I was definitely going to fold to a turn raise, but I did think I needed to test the waters somewhere...just wasn't sure where. Thanks, Rhone. |

Re: 99, 3 (ugh) overcards fall...how much aggression here?
If you're going to bet it should be on the flop.
Keep in mind though, most loose-passives are going to call here with any A, K, Q, J or T. |

Re: 99, 3 (ugh) overcards fall...how much aggression here?
(I'm probably going to get slaughtered for this...)
Personally I would have bet-called or bet-folded on the flop. Your PF raise UTG tells them you have a hand. Checking on the flop shows you're either holding low pockets that didn't hit or slowplaying an incredible hand. If you bet on the flop, and both call, the ace on the turn can make this hand or break it. I would bet the turn as well, and if I get raised, fold. I guess it really all depends on your aggressiveness. Then again, I haven't been playing that long, so I could be -completely- wrong. Just my opinion. |
