Default AQo: When to fold top pair 2nd best kicker?

villain's stats: 11.36/9.09/18 after 44 hands.

this situation has been troubling me for quite some time at 5/10 now...i check raised the flop to try to knock out the guy between us, and get 3bet...fold the turn unimproved, or check/call down?

Since the opponent seems TAG, I think that you can fold the turn. I can't see you beating any hands he 3 bets both PF and on the flop, with continued aggression on the turn. I would let this go on the turn, but I may be weak-tight on this.

I think a standard post flop line here is check/call, check/call, bet. I may be wrong?

Crunchy and I seem to always agree IN OTHER PEOPLES posts, but not in our own.

Check, check, bet looks pretty standard to me here. The only problem is MP1's possible 4 or 5 outter. But, I *think* the loose the least when behind, but get a bet in on every street line against the PFR over shadows this.

I maybe waaaayyy off here, but no way am I folding to a TAG with a postflop aggression factor of 18. In fact, I would cap the flop and lead the turn and only then slow down if raised. Most likely preflop 3-bet hands include AA,KK,QQ,JJ,AK and AQ. You are only behind AA and AK. Yes the flop 3-bet makes it look like you are behind, but his aggression factor of 18 says that he 3-bets with quite a lot of holdings. Maybe 44 hands is not enough to put this much weight into his post flop aggression read. I guess others will call this spewing chips. But at the very least, I am calling down.

Be careful about putting too much stock in stats generated from 44 hands.

Yeah, this was my only concern. If I think about it more, with a VPIP of 11 over 44 hands, he has only seen 5 flops and he raised 4 of them. I guess I can see how that aggression level is possible over that small of a sample size.

I like how you played the hand.

I would have bet the flop (anticipating a raise) and called the raise. Then I would have check raised on the turn. If he reraised, I think I probably need to hit my Queen. I doubt villian would play KK QQ or AJ this way.

I bet the turn and fold to a raise.
