Re: So I hear poker has made a comeback in Atlantic City
[ QUOTE ]
borgata is opening a new room next summer, apparently they're adding 100 tables or so. floor said it was gonna be 3 times the size of the current one. so that should cut down on some of the waiting lists (hopefully). can't wait [/ QUOTE ] Last time I spoke with the floor they said the plan had changed, the expention will be to take over the simylcast room and build out where the high limit room is. Origionally many heard that the poker room was going to move upstairs where the club currently is. PS: Last time was around the new year. TT [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] |

PS: Last time was around the new year. [/ QUOTE ] I've gone down quite a bit since then and every time they have a different story. I think the last one I heard was that they were knocking out the back wall in the poker room. This is also the one I've heard the most. |

The loud pile driving on weekday mornings that can be heard in the poker room (louder as you approach the far wall), in addition to the responses from the floor and dealers when asked what all the racket was all but confirms this.

Re: So I hear poker has made a comeback in Atlantic City
Googling Done. Opens July 4th weekend. Ladies and Gentelmen... I present the poker room at the House of Blues. It looks as if they are keeping the Showboat brand alive, the two will combine forces. The main HOB entrance is on the boardwalk, which oddly surprises me. Interestingly enough, they are already hiring staff. The pokr room will be branded with the House of Blues name, since it is located in their boardwalk section. LINK TT [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] |

Re: So I hear poker has made a comeback in Atlantic City
There was a posting on RGP that the Showboat plan might be scuttled. At the very least, it seems unlikely that the room will be opening this summer, as there have been no reports of dealer hiring.

Re: So I hear poker has made a comeback in Atlantic City
As of my last trip I have finally been to every card room in AC... The Borgata is far and away the classiest room around but good luck getting a low-limit seat there if you show up after 5 pm on the weekends... The Taj is the biggest but crowded and dirty, but at least you can get red bull from the cocktail waitresses (when you can find one)... The trop is great for low-limit games except for the fact that waitresses take 45 minutes at a minimum to get you a drink from the bar that is 50 feet away from your table... only complaint i have about the trop is that they don't spread 3/6 they go from 2/4 to 4/8 to 6/12 and up.. Bally's is dark and smokey and last time I was there i thought the dealers were a bit shady.. they let one guy in the SB bet after he checked and everyone checked around to him.. I got up after this hand and haven't been back since...have only been to the sands once but it was great the one time I was there. A table full of fish and one other AC regular. Was up $250 in 4 hours at a 3/6 table. Just not sure my 1st impression is accurate because how good can a poker room be that can't find a way to stay open 24/7 with the current poker craze?
P.S> will be down there this weekend... PM me with a way to hook up with some fellow 2+2'ers for some drunken 2-4 |

Thats 4 months away, isn't that enough time to hire dealers?

Re: So I hear poker has made a comeback in Atlantic City
I play semi-frequently at Harrah's, only because I visit family there when they come to town. Have played 3-6 and 5-10 HE and 1-5 stud there. Soft-soft-soft.
I echo all the complaints about the service and the comfort of the room, especially since they've jammed so many tables in there lately. Even on weekends, they can't keep games going into the early morning (3:00 or so). I heard rumors from dealers they were moving the room and trying to commit to running a good room, but that hasn't happened that I am aware of. |
