Your move
Party 3/6. I'm dealt QJo three off the button. Two limpers to me, I limp (thinking that the players behind me are very passive and rarely raise preflop), button limps, SB completes and BB checks. Six to the flop.
Flop - 2h Qd Kc Checked around. Who bets second pair after four players have checked? Turn - Jh EMP bets, somewhat loose-aggressive MP raises. Action's on you -- what do you do? -- Homer p.s. - I folded. |

With only one player left to act I'll bet close to 100% of the time. EMP bets, somewhat loose-aggressive MP raises. Action's on you -- what do you do? If he's even remotely loose-aggressive I wouldn't fold. I have to think your hand will be good a minimum of 50% of the time. Re-raising is my first choice, followed by calling, and folding. |

Re: Your move
I'd bet the flop and definitely reraise the turn. If a ten or ace falls on the river you can fold to a lot of action but I think you gave up too quickly.

Re: Your move
1) With just the button who limped preflop to act after me, I am betting here every time.
2) I would like my hand a lot more, if it was one bet to me, but I think that I should probably three bet the turn, against typical opponents. I might be behind AT, or T9, but I also am way ahead of other hands that might think that they are ahead or have a combination made hand/draw, like AJ, AQ, JT, Q [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img], T [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img], or you could even be chopping with another QJ. |

Re: Your move
I'd bet the flop and I'd 3-bet the turn.

Re: Your move
Well, it's settled -- I'm weak-tight. Looking at this hand again a few hours later, I'm not sure what I was thinking.

Re: Your move
UGH! You have to bet this flop. Cmon.
I also save my offsuit broadway garbage limps for the cutoff or button exclusivly for the most part. |

Stupid, related, newbie question
It seems that every shark is recommending a 3-bet on the turn. As a beginner to the game, I have to admit that I have no idea how it is seemingly a no brainer to you guys that 3 bets is right. Care to elaborate and help the new guy out? Why for instance is a bet/check an inferior play?
Thanks in advance. |
