Any way to play this differently
UB Micro limits
I am in the SB with 10 10 4 callers to me, I raise UTG, UTG+1, MP and Button all call Flop: 6 [img]/forums/images/icons/diamond.gif[/img] 10 [img]/forums/images/icons/heart.gif[/img] J [img]/forums/images/icons/heart.gif[/img] I bet, MP and the Button call Turn: Q [img]/forums/images/icons/diamond.gif[/img] I bet both call River: 7 [img]/forums/images/icons/heart.gif[/img] I bet, MP raises, button and I both call MP turns over K [img]/forums/images/icons/heart.gif[/img] 4 [img]/forums/images/icons/heart.gif[/img] for the flush to beat my set. Is there anything I could have (or should have) done differently that might have won me this pot earlier or is this just a bad beat? |

Re: Any way to play this differently
1. You played it fine, though you can usually fold to the raise on the end. But calling is just fine on the river in a big pot.
2. It's not a "bad beat". He flopped a flush draw and got there without pairing the board. That's not all that unlikely. And no, there's nothing you could have done to get rid of a guy with (on the turn) an open ended straight draw + a flush draw. |

Re: Any way to play this differently
Preflop, I would just call from the SB. You're out of position and will likely need to flop a set (or an overpair) to win against this many opponents. I could see raising if you were up against two less or two more opponents.
On the river, I might check-call when the flush card comes, being out of position against two opponents. Against only one opponent I typically bet, but against two I often check and call. There is nothing you could have done to win this particular hand. -- Homer |
