Hypothetical situation with a short stack
a) You have 500 chips UTG with 72o.
b) There are 6 players left. c) The blinds are 50/100 but will go up to 75/150 next hand. Do you push while you still have some fold equity? Or do you let the blind essentially cripple you? |

Re: Hypothetical situation with a short stack
I like to have something in the top 50% if I'm going to make this move. With 5 players left to act and a shortstack I don't do it much because (at least at the 33s) your chances of not getting called are microscopic.

I'd say you take it down without a fight about 25% of the time. Still, I fold and hope to double up in the next hand or two. |

Re: Hypothetical situation with a short stack
The blinds arent usually this high with 6 people still left are they??
If so, this would lead me to belief there are 1 or 2 very large stacks at this table, and so 500 may get a call from one of these large stacks who is anticipating you doing this with any 2. |

Re: Hypothetical situation with a short stack
I don't know where you play, but just yesterday we were 200/400 with 5 people still left. 50/100 with 6 remaining seems about right.

Don't you think 25% plus the odds that you win the hand when called is fairly good? I like those odds better than my odds of doubling up next hand without any fold equity. |

Re: Hypothetical situation with a short stack
I'd rather wait. I don't think there's much chance of getting the others to fold. I don't really mind going down to 3X the Big Blind, you just need to get reasonably lucky once or twice and you're in fine shape.

Re: Hypothetical situation with a short stack
Nope, they're expecting a push. You don't have near the fold equity you think you do.
I'll wait for the next hand. |
