Default B. Greenstein\'s response to a question I posted a while back

Link to the thread here:

It seemed some responders agreed with Ciaffone and would flat-call here.

BG's response is:

> I usually raise in this situation to define my hand. Often the chip stacks are such that I get all-in or get a caller all-in. When the chips stacks are deep, you have to consider who calls or raises you.
Against some players, I am happy to get my chips in. Against others, a call or raise behind me leaves me with a sick feeling.

He agrees it is player dependent and basically acquires information in addition to defining his hand.

I know you open yourself up to action behind you, but I can't see how I don't raise here on a short or deep stack. If deep and it gets popped back, my stomach turns and I've got another decision to make.

I do understand the argument against though.

Wait, I thought Barry G's name was barryg, I didn't see him responding to the thread though. However, I think that it really depends on how many callers constitutes many. If you have 2 callers behind you, I raise. If you have 3 or more I flat call, although the stak sizes are very important.

We posed the question to Shirley Rosario on Live at the Bike and she in turn, emailed Barry. He didn't post in the thread.
