another odd hand
Paradise 5-10
I'm in the SB with A9o. UTG limps, folded around to me, I complete, BB checks. Flop comes AKJ rainbow. Huh. I don't like the limp by UTG, what could he have? I've never played with him before. I check. BB checks, UTG (actually the button now) bets. I check-raise. BB folds, UTG calls. Turn 9 (can't remember suit). Yea, I have aces up. I bet, UTG calls. River rag. I bet, UTG calls. Ok, what did UTG have? Results to follow -Scott |

Re: another odd hand
ATs or KQ maybe.
With a big pair he would've raised pre-flop. With a medium pair he would've folded on the flop or the turn, unless he had 99 in which case he would've raised on the turn. With AK or AQ he would probably have raised pre-flop, and with AJ he would've been doing lots of raising on the flop and/or turn. With KJs he would also have been doing some raising, and the same goes for QTs. Finally, with QJ or JTs, surely he would've dropped at some point. |

Re: another odd hand
I'm with Ralle. I think he was playing A10 or K10.

Results:
UTG called all the way to the river with AJ for flopped aces up, and takes down the pot.
SUPRISE! And this was a paradise 5-10 hand! Needless to say I was a bit shocked. First he didn't raise preflop, then he didn't bet the flop, or raise the flop, turn OR river! How many mistakes can one guy make in one hand and still make money!!?? Perhaps I should have titled this "Misplayed at every street"? -Scott |

Re: Results:
After your flop checkraise, it was heads-up and he had position. Then he took two more bets from you. You could argue for a turn or river raise, but that could have easily folded a worse hand or been 3-bet by a better hand (namely QT).
On no street did he play as badly as you did preflop. |

Re: Results:
AJ should have raised the river, no question about it! There are lots of hands besides QT that will bet like Scott.

"AJ should have raised the river, no question about it!"
--From the safety of the 2+2 board, I'm pretty sure you're right. But since I wouldn't automatically do it in the heat of battle (call me weak-tight), I have trouble chastising the guy for just calling. |

Re: Results:
Hell, if he had raised the turn, I would have 3-bet him!
I would not have raise him if he had raised preflop however. He missed a few bets here... -S |

Re: Results:
I had a tough time getting past the mere completion of the SB when there's only one limper in the hand, too. I would have raised to chase the BB and get it heads-up.
