Re: Calling raise with AK
[ QUOTE ]
[ QUOTE ] How about re-raising before the flop, to around $24? After all, you are the only two players in this pot, and he's an aggressive player who just made a standard open-raise. It seems like he could have almost anything at this point (assuming he's raising pretty often before the flop). [/ QUOTE ] I didnt say he raises preflop with junk. He just continues to fire away sometimes when it appears hes beat. Other times he plays very well. No way I want to reraise him preflop out of position. [/ QUOTE ] I think that you say there is bad . Then fold. If you cant dont have the guts to re rasie out of position . I think re-reaise out of position here is the best way to play the hand. Preflop or you should fold. But maybe no one will agree. |

Re: Calling raise with AK
if he raises AA-JJ, AK and bets the flop the same way with all these hands and turn w/ all these hands, i like check-call, check-call, check-call.
also, you'll hopefully be able to closer judge his hand by his size of the turn bets and past experiences |

Re: Calling raise with AK
Check, call. Lead the turn for a pot-sized bet. The way he plays it doesn't look like you're getting away from the hand if he bets big any where. So call any raise on the turn.

Re: Calling raise with AK
This works, but jamming the turn looks like it might make this opponent do something stupid based on the previous hand.

Re: Calling raise with AK
Against an aggressive player, calling with AK can be an awesome tool. It's still good as a change-up now and again.
Against a tight, straight-forward player, I would re-raise this most of the time and take the initiative. - Jim |

Re: Calling raise with AK
[ QUOTE ]
[ QUOTE ] Call flop call turn bet river. You are ahead of his range... [/ QUOTE ] Bet how much on river? Half to 3/4 pot? [/ QUOTE ] That's my standard. On this board I probably might even check call again, because it's harder to represent a bluff. But really, if he is capable of raising QK here, I'm betting that river 100%. |

Re: Calling raise with AK
[ QUOTE ]
I think re-reaise out of position here is the best way to play the hand. Preflop or you should fold. But maybe no one will agree. [/ QUOTE ] I don't think just calling here is that bad of a play. Normally, against an opponent that will fold QQ and JJ when an A or K hits the flop, a re-raise out of position makes sense since you're getting reverse-implied odds on the flop. There is no way to make money in this spot versus a standard QQ or JJ holder. But against an opponent who will still make bets, just calling here is fine since you'll get paid off if you flop an A or K anyways. |

Re: Calling raise with AK
c/c all three streets is my favorite line. you must be willing to commit your stack, though. i usually am against this type of player. high variance, but very profitable line. i also might re-raise preflop.

Re: Calling raise with AK
I would check/call to the bitter end.
Far ahead or far behind, he would prolly fold to any bet if he is beaten, so no point in betting here (because he is aggressive). Best wishes |
