If I'm HU and my opponent is unlikely to c/r, yes. Multi-way (or HU against a c/r loving opponent), no.

i usually take the free cards offered in situations like this for several reasons.

It really depends on how dangerous my cards will look if I hit. If my straightcards will make the board look like i minefield i try to pick up the pot right now.
If i know my card won't discourage action i'll take the free card for the following reasons:

First of all, this ain't a hand i'd like to get pushed of if a player OOP checked a flopped set/2-pair decides to pull a big check-raise.
If you hit you will get plenty of action on the turn nonetheless, and if you miss you are happy the card was free.

My personal belief is that semibluffing in position is overrated in an unraised pot. If you are in middle position i am much more inclined to semibluff as the bet might buy me position for the remainder of the hand.

I say take free cards unless the situation warrants another action.

You can often bet 1/2 the pot and take it down right there.

On any board that is checked to you, You can often bet 1/2 the pot and take it down right there, but doing so indiscrimately with any OESD against any opponents, you risk an expensive check-raise when you could have taken a free card.

Not betting usually a mistake unless a pfr is behind you or you have bad position. Not only do you have a big draw, you might take the pot down right now. You cant live in fear of a check raise. Dont go crazy, dont overbet, just do a normal 2/3 pot or whatever.

Besides taking the pot down betting might buy you position and the chance to take a free card on turn if you chose. I bet 75% of the time with these hands.

One of the times I dont try and take the pot down is if I have J-10 and the flop is KQX. That probably hit someone, and a re-raise is a strong possibility. If flop is 8-9-2 for example I bet it. You take it down at least half the time, and even if you dont you have outs.

The OP stated that you already were in position. The play you describe simply sounds like a tight table. Betting 2/3 pot with air in position against tight players will probably take it down or give you a free turn as well. That doesn't make it a good idea 75% of the time. That number seems a bit high. In a weak/passive/calling station type limit game would you try this move?
